    Kasturba Gandhi College For Women

Kasturba Gandhi College for Women (KGCW) was established in the year 1973. The establishment of the College was possible, when the neighbouring "New Club" agreed to partwith 4 acres of its leased land along with some temporary structures to the Exhibition Society. Shri. Madan Mohan, one of our senior Members was responsible in persuding the New Club in taking this decision. Shri P Narsa Reddy who was then Revenue Minister and president of Exhibition Society, took keen interest in this case and saw that orders were issued transfering 4 acres of leased land in the name of Exhibition Society for establishing a girls' College.

To start with degree and intermediate classes were accomodated together, but in the year 1990, the Junior College was seperates from the degree college. The College was fortunate to have late Dr. Sri Devi as the founder Principal, who made poineering efforts in Women's education and worked relel)tlessly for the development of Kasturba Gandhi College for Women during its infancy.
